Really Cool Voice Command App
I have an iPhone and enjoy using Siri. However, If you have a Samsung device, you will want to know about Bixby. Bixby’s digital voice assistant is very similar, not only to Siri but also to Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant. Bixby is a really cool voice command app.
What Is the Bixby Voice Command App?
According to Samsung, “the Bixby app is the Samsung intelligence assistant first introduced on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. You can interact with Bixby using your voice, text, or taps. It’s deeply integrated into the phone, meaning that Bixby is able to carry out a lot of the tasks you do on your phone.”
Bixby is now available on a range of Samsung phones, including the Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, Note10, Note10+, S10e, S10, S10+, Fold, Note9, S9, S9+, Note9, S8, and S8+.
It is one of the most customizable voice assistants available.
Bixby Voice Tips & Tricks
Do you have a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8? To call up Bixby, you can either press the dedicated Bixby button on the left of the phone or say hi Bixby to summon Bixby. Raise your voice command experience to new heights with 10 Bixby voice tips and tricks.
1. Create custom voice commands for Bixby.
Say you have a command that is quite lengthy. To make the command shorter and do the same thing as the long command, you can customize the shorter and have it mean the same as the longer command.
Voice commands are much faster. To start with, you use the regular longer command structure. An example would be to say, Bixby, go to the camera, open the settings, and change the video size to full HD. Bixby’s shorter command would be a shorter name, ‘I changed the rear video size.’ If the short command is still too long, you can customize it down to even smaller and add it to your quick commands. You eliminate the longer time that it takes to use your fingers.
2. Create a voice command to unlock your phone.
It is easy to set up the voice command. Go to Bixby Home, go to Settings, choose the voice settings (there is also a setting for cards), and look for unlock with voice password. Just tap the on setting if it’s not already on. You can also change your password or delete your voice password.
3. Get Answers from the web.
This feature combines a little bit of Google Assistant and Apple Siri. You can get answers from the web. Let’s see how it works. Ask Bixby to open Q & A. and ask your question. This might be for research or just plain curiosity. Bixby will fire back your answer. And that’s all there is to it.
4. Turn off Voice Feedback.
Every time you ask Bixby to do something for you, it gives you voice feedback. So, for example, if you go into the display settings and tell Bixby to do something, Bixby will reply. That is called voice feedback. Not everybody likes to receive voice feedback. If you don’t like it, you can turn it off by going to Bixby Home, go to settings, scroll down to where it says voice feedback, tap it, and voilà. You have turned it off. Easy, peasy?
5. Change Your Voice Feedback Setting.
Two styles are provided with your really cool voice command app. The styles are short and full. In this case, you can make your preference again by going to Bixby Home, going to settings, scrolling down to where it says Feedback style, and clicking next to the short or full option. Your voice feedback will either be shorter or longer, depending on which one you want.
6. Train Bixby to understand your voice.
Tip number 6 is going to train Bixby to understand what you are saying better. This will help cut down on mistakes in the commands you make. So go back to the home, and then go into the settings. The next step is to scroll down, and you want to tap on enhanced voice recognition. (I bet you are getting very familiar with Settings, aren’t you)?
So, there are two choices in Enhanced – Record your pronunciation again and reset pronunciation. This will help clear any discrepancies, especially if you have an accent.
7. Use Bixby to replace your keyboard.
This next tip is really excellent. You can use Bixby to replace your keyboard by going to your web browser. This will bring up a keyboard. You can either type in your query or press and hold the Bixby button. Now you can press and hold the Bixby button, and you will be able to dictate what you want to type. Cool, huh?
8. Use Dictate in Notes & Messages
Not only can you use Dictate in your web browser, but you can also use dictate in Notes and Messages.
To effectively use the Dictation feature, you need to go back to Settings and make sure the Dictation on Keyboard is turned on. Another tip is to make sure the keyboard is up; otherwise, dictation will not work.
9. Access your command history.
Your Bixby digital voice assistant keeps a record of all your Bixby voice commands. To see them in your Galaxy S8 or your Galaxy Note 8, go to your Bixby Home, My Bixby, and tap See your activity with Bixby.
The best part of this option is that your activity is customizable. You can modify each command you have input. For example, if the Bixby voice command is not correct, you can change it to what it should be. What’s even better is you can delete it if you want.
