If you wake up groggy or tired give Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock a try.  Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock helps you wake up feeling refreshed and rested.  How this app accomplishes this is by tracking your sleep patterns throughout the night and waking you up during your lightest phase of sleep, so you feel naturally rested instead of tired and groggy.

The Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock app works in three steps:

  1. Sleep Cycle tracks your sleep movements using your phone’s microphone. There are two ways it can monitor you sleep.

  2. Place your phone next to you on your nightstand.

  3.  You can utilize your phone’s built-in accelerometer by placing it on the corner of your bed, under your sheets.

  4. Once you decide where you want to place your phone, the Sleep Cycle app will either use sound or movement to analyze your sleep throughout the night.

  5. As soon as it reaches the pre-set time you have chosen to awake, Sleep Cycle will wake you up during your lightest sleeping phase. You can choose to use the Intelligent feature which gently brings you from asleep to completely awake, or you can use the Regular feature that allows you to choose a specific time to awake giving you a snooze feature.

In other words, Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock can help you wake up better-using science instead of your alarm clock blaring in your ear right in the middle or a dream.

Whether you’re using a device running iOS 8 (or later) or an Android operating system, Sleep Cycle will generate a sleep graph once you’ve woken up. This way, you’ll be able to see when you were sleeping the lightest and when you were in your deepest phases.

Sleep Cycle also offers other features, including sleep notes where you can create notes about how well you slept, and how you felt when you awoke. It also can track your heart rate.
The app can even track your activity throughout the day!

What Are Sleep Cycles?

When we sleep, we undergo different sleep cycles throughout the night.
The most important of these sleep phases is called REM (rapid eye movement), which occurs after about 90 minutes and makes up about 25% of your sleeping cycle.
During REM, your brain is very active, this is when dreaming occurs.
If you wake up from a blaring alarm in the middle of a REM cycle you would more than likely feel groggy, disoriented, and have difficulty realizing where you were.

Northcube created Sleep Cycle, a Swedish game and app development studio founded in 2008.
