Clipboard Manager Tools Are Essential

Many of you may be familiar with the terms cut, copy and paste. The default clipboard that comes with your computer only provides the basic capability. If you want to copy and paste more than one item, then a clipboard manager tool is essential.

Why a Clipboard Manager Is Useful

Your clipboard affords a temporary storage space for data to be stored. You can then move that data around within your system. To explain further, a clipboard manager is a computer program that adds certain functions to an operating system’s clipboard.

Let me clarify. Many clipboards provide only one buffer for the “copy and paste” function. This is then overwritten by each new “copy” operation. Significantly, the main task of a clipboard manager is to store data copied to the clipboard, so you have extended access and usage of that data.

Mac Users

For Mac users, Paste, Copied, and PasteBot is a good place to start your hunt for the right app. In particular, let’s take a look at each one of them so you have a good understanding. To start with first up is Paste.

Paste

Paste stores everything you copy on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad. If you need it, it is there for you whenever you have need of it again.

Paste expands your clipboard capacity so that everything gets saved. You won’t lose anything as it’s right there for you.

What else does Paste do for you? A few of the features are intelligent search, creation of pinboards, and a host of other features. Best of all, you get it free; just download it from the App Store.

What’s next in our list of apps? Let’s look at Copied.

Copied

Compared to Paste, Copied Clipboard Manager is for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. Also, you can download this from the Mac App Store.

In summary, use Copied to save text, links, and images. Then quickly access your saved clippings. It is quite easy to do. Just get to them from the menubar and copy them back to your clipboard in its original format or in a variety of different formats using templates.

Create lists and then organize your clippings. Hotkeys are used to select a list. Then just copy clippings from the list without moving away from your active window.

Copied uses iCloud Sync to sync your saved clippings and lists so that you can access them from any device. Copied for iOS and iPadOS is also included at no additional cost.

Our final choice is PasteBot.

PasteBot

According to AppleWorld Today, if you require more power than what your basic clipboard affords you, then PasteBot is the choice app for you. To be clear, it does require macOS 10.14 or later and also has “preliminary support” for macOS Big Sur and M1 Macs.

Do you want to find out more? Since PasteBot saves everything you copy, you can access them whenever you want them. Save and organize frequently-used clippings into custom pasteboards. To take this one step further, create keyboard shortcuts to access pasteboards and paste specific clippings.

Not only does this app have widespread saving and pasteboard capabilities, Pastebot’s handy search capabilities are uniquely created to help locate specific copied/cut items quickly. Its searches are based on content or metadata. You can search by application, date, data type, and more.

Windows Users

Alternatively, what about Windows? Are there any apps that are clipboard managers? Of course, there are. What we recommend are Comfort Clipboard, Ditto, and Clipboard Fusion.

Comfort Clipboard

To start with, let’s look at Comfort Clipboard. Just as with your Mac clipboard managers, Comfort Clipboard supports all clipboard formats, including text, links, images, files, and all others. In particular, Microsoft Windows® supports Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8 / 7 / Vista® / XP besides multiple Microsoft Windows Servers.

Comfort Clipboard has a wide set of features for your convenience. To start with, you get a wide array of saved history fragments. In fact, you can edit any text fragment, set a hotkey for a quick paste of the fragment, and set the color of the fragment in the list. Oh, I don’t want to leave this out. For added security, you can designate a display name for any fragment that hides its contents.

Pricing for Licenses for Comfort Clipboard Pro 9 is a one-time purchase. You can use the version you purchase for as long as you want without having to pay any annual fees or subscriptions.

Ditto

Next on our list of clipboard managers for Windows is Ditto.

Ditto is an extension of the traditional windows clipboard. It saves each item placed on the clipboard. That means you get to access any of those items when you need them. Ditto allows you to save any type of information that can be put on the clipboard, text, images, HTML, custom formats.

In order to use Ditto Clipboard, you need to have Windows 10 as your operating system version 14316.0 or higher. The architecture requires x86. In other words, the reference of x86 usually refers to a 32 bit OS. On the other hand, 64 bit would show up as having an x64 architecture. The 64-bit computers can run both 32-bit programs and 64-bit programs. Conversely, 32-bit computers cannot run 64-bit programs. The answer is not complicated. The reason why is because the bit sizes are fundamentally different.

Ditto is free and can be downloaded from Microsoft.

Clipboard Fusion

Finally, the last clipboard manager for Windows that we are looking at is Clipboard Fusion. ClipboardFusion makes it straightforward to remove clipboard text formatting, replace clipboard text or run powerful macros on your clipboard contents! But of course, you expect more, right? Well, here you are. You can even sync your clipboard with other computers and mobile devices, an element I have not seen on the other clipboard manager apps we have reviewed.

Your security is state of the art with 256-bit encryption. Despite what we have listed, ClipboardFusion.com’s basic functionality is free for you to use on your personal computer, with no strings attached. If you would like to take advantage of Clipboard Syncing and more advanced Trigger actions, check out their Pro licenses.

Concluding with Clipboard Manager Benefits

So, what can we say? Without a doubt, clipboard managers can save you time and effort. As a final summary, take a look at the benefits you can enjoy.

• It’s easier to copy and paste multiple pieces of text or data.
• Overwriting is greatly minimized.
• Thanks to pinning features, pin snippets are available for frequent use and storage. An example where this is useful if you use a lot of usernames and passwords.
• Clipboard managers greatly magnify flexibility in moving around your system.

So get ready to improve your efficiency and organization. Clipboard manager tools are essential.
